Inside my world
My biggest regret will always be that I didn’t become involved in ceramics before now.
Unfortunately, there are many people, like myself, who find a passion late in life. It’s not anything new, there are thousands of us out there, who for various reasons were unable to do so or who were simply unaware of a leaning in that direction.
But here I am, appreciating the fact that I’ve been lucky enough to discover this wonderful material and being able to share it with others. Most of my inspiration for my characters comes from my childhood and constantly moving schools. It was hard to keep friends so I made my own. Books like the Narnia series, Moomins and the Borrowers helped me create different worlds in my head. Later, my job as Cabin Crew took me to places that opened my eyes to art and colour. Artists like Gaudi, Matisse, Nikki De Sant Phalle and the vibrant colours of Mexico and India all stayed with me and always end up being part of my work.
Late last year I realised that after eight years I needed to know more about the world of art so for the time being I have put the clay aside while I do a Foundation diploma in art and design. I have no idea where I’m going but I do know it will be fun!
Thank you so much for popping by!
